A pack full of the dice previewed last week arrived in the post on Friday morning. We’ve been trying them out since then and they seem to offer good value.
First out was a D20, which is probably the best D20 any of us have ever used. The intricate design on the black surface looks great, but it’s the size and weight that really impressed. At about 3cm or 1” across the dice feels solid and fills the hand. When rolled it’s also well balanced and more readable than a standard D20.
A full set of standard-sized ‘D&D’ dice was also included in the pack, (D4, D6, D8, D10, D12 and D20). These are lighter than the single D20 with designs cut deep into a lightweight plastic. You could use these dice for years without wearing down the designs.
Finally, there were several chunky ‘button’ counters marked with dragon designs. These and similar counters, (from a range of different colours and designs), are ideal for RPG players who don’t have access to a lot of figures. They’re a cheap and easy way to keep track of monsters and temporary features – and no one has to do any painting.
