Graphic Novel: Not Dead Yet

Just a quick mention for the Wolverine standalone Not Dead Yet. None of us would usually try or buy a Wolverine ‘standalone’ collection packaged as a graphic novel. But a Warren Ellis storyline is always worth a glance and Leinil Francis Yu’s artwork drags you in. The action sequences work particularly well.

Wolverine: Not Dead Yet (Marvel Premiere Classic)

The plot is pretty straightforward, as Wolverine’s past comes back to haunt him after a major fallout with a drinking partner. Flashback scenes and the knowledge that Not Dead Yet is a prequel should kind of kill the story. Fortunately, Ellis and Yu keep a tight focus on the action throughout and some exceptional artwork makes for a genuine pageturner.

There are a few violent scenes. Nothing to compare with a violent videogame but they’re not suitable for younger kids.
