Making an Avatar or Player Character (PC)
Your Team Renegade player character (PC) or avatar is set out in your Book of Life, where you can keep track of all of your PC’s challenges, i.e. missions, quests and journeys. This is also where players record the total amount of stardust aka dust collected by completing challenges and gaining awards.
It’s easy to make one from scratch using our print and PDF options. Free, editable Books of Life are being prepared for download in .doc, .odt and, in all likelihood, html formats.
The Book of Life
Your Book of Life is the place to record your:
- Banners: personal and team identifiers
- Awards: your awards and the dates for new challenges and completed challenges
- Trophies: links to or copies of media you’ve captured during play
- Tags: Tags made and used during play
- Dust: total dust, which indicates your current level in the game
- Jinxes: where things went wrong
Just mark the start and end dates beside each challenge as they’re completed. Then shade, colour or copy in awards when you complete full missions, quests and journeys. Add links between your trophies and your challenges if you wish to.
Banners
Banners are personal or team images or logos used to identify a player or a team. They can act as or be part of a tag. A selection of ready-to-use banners will be made available shortly.
Challenges
Players progress by completing challenges. Challenges are grouped into missions, quests and journeys. Look through the missions, quests and journeys, then select and note the start date for your first challenge. Select new missions and quests at will, but please follow the recommendation that journeys are only undertaken by those ranked at a Renegade level.
Awards
Awards show players’ specialisations after completing a series of challenges in the form of a mission, a quest or a journey. It is not necessary to complete every single challenge within a mission, a quest or a journey to claim the award. Each mission, quest or journey has a dust threshold. Once the threshold is passed a player can claim an award.
Stardust aka Dust
Players collect stardust with every completed challenge. Dust is used to meet the thresholds for completing enough challenges within a mission, quest or journey to gain awards.
The dust raises the player’s level as it accumulates. Levels are set out on the Renegades’ Page.
Genre
Team Renegade’s styling and challenges appear focused on fantasy games and settings. However, it is entirely acceptable to play Team Renegade using an RPG or adventure game from any genre. Where a challenge suggests a fantasy context simply swap out the fantasy element for your choice of SciFi, cyberpunk, modern, horror, or other, elements.
Repeating Challenges
Players can repeat challenges once and gain half of the dust again, (rounded down), providing the repeat involves an original take on the challenge by the player/ s.
