Dark Heresy’s (DH) religious fervour and Rogue Trader’s (RT) epic starships have already delivered high quality, ‘rules heavy’, battle games for Tabletop RPG groups. Deathwatch is the third core rule book in the 40K Tabletop RPG series and it’s due out shortly. Time to join the ranks of the genetically-enhanced, Uber-Space Marines of the Deathwatch.
It’s anyone’s guess whether or not the lengthy rules will need the kind of hacks and patching required to survive in DH or RT, but we don’t care. A few adjustments and it’s easy to run the other two games, so it’s safe to assume Deathwatch will be playable.
Warhammer 40K RPG: Deathwatch Core Rulebook (Warhammer RPG)
All missions are likely to be not so much gloomy as disconsolate. They’re also likely to get highly combative if the contents of Final Sanction: An Introduction To Deathwatch are anything to go by. This glossy ‘promo’ can be downloaded for free from Fantasy Flight Games. It sets out the basics of the game and contains a short scenario. Watch out, Genestealers about!
There’s a free sequel called Oblivion’s Edge on offer at the same time, which bolts straight on to the scenario in Final Sanction. Both PDF booklets show the impressive presentation likely to appear in the full book. The free preview downloads are HERE.
