Designer Dice

The makers of the custom RPG dice mentioned in our recent list of ‘Our Favourite Tabletop RPG Props‘ have replied to our request for images. They’re based in Poland and make a wide range of fantasy and RPG dice, which look great and offer ‘persistent’ props that can be used with every game. Boardgame players are going to be just as interested as tabletop RPG players, because the ‘standard’ dice are simply very decorative D6s.

The range available for RPG players provides all the D&D standards, from D4 to D100, with some specialist sets for particular games and themes, e.g. Earthdawn and Call of Cthulhu.

q-workshop also offer a custom dice service, which provides instructions for sending in simple raster images as templates. These are then put on to the dice to match the type and colour of dice you want. For those without the time or patience the designer will even work up a design for you.

The dice look durable, with well cut designs and no hints of fraying or any stress in the plastic. We’ll test a few close to destruction and report back in June when q-workshop are planning to update the range.

Players are obviously going to have to pay a little more for these dice compared to cheap sets. However, it looks like money well spent, as these are exactly the types of props that can intrigue potential players and add a touch of extra atmosphere to every game, without anyone really noticing after a while.
